We are all human and all make mistakes when starting something new. However, in today’s tech driven world and with the level of information that you can attain on the internet, it’s easier to overcome challenges and roadblocks most people face when launching a new business. Always remember knowledge is power and the information you collect will save you a lot of money, time, heartache and stress.
No Knowledge or Research
These days it’s sad to say, but it’s too many people getting into industries or fields that they have no experience or knowledge of. If you want to be successful you should always do your due diligence and educate yourself studying the industry you’re interested in, there are some suggestions you should look into when doing your research:
-Who are the industry thought leaders
-Cost to start
-Business model options
-Who are the top earners and their story
-What will be the debt you’ll inquire running this business!
It’s always best to be well informed of the pro’s & con’s to know exactly what you’re getting into.
Failing To Plan
If you fail to plan then you plan to fail- One of my favorite quotes. Sometimes people really don’t realize how big this is on the list. They didn’t research nor plan. Just a simple launch. How do you expect the future client to know that your business exist if you didn’t build your voice, before launching. There is nothing like having a monthly or a yearly plan to guide you. Every year I sit down, write out my goals of what I want to achieve, then I create action steps which is the plan of how to achieve each goal. I’ve been doing this for years and it has truly helped me. Create a 30, 60, 90 day, year plan that guides you. You can also create a plan that is broken down into, budget, marketing, social media, website, and other areas of business. Not Investing Into Self Business
I always say if you aren’t willing to invest into your business, how do you expect to be rolling in the gold coins like Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales (took you back to 90’s thanks Disney + lol) Make sure to create a budget for marketing. Of course social media is free, but you need to have a marketing plan that targets your audience.
Walking Blindly/No Guidance
Before strategist or business consultants were the trend. I sought out people that have done what I wanted to do or just simply had a business that I knew I could learn from and tweak to apply to my own. Don’t ever be scared to ask questions or reach out to people you’ll be surprised. You want to know what is great about living in today’s time, you can hire someone who can guide you. Stop walking blindly trying to figure it all out and build your own business.
No Social Media & Being Consistent
Get you a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pintrest accounts then automate them. I understand social media can be time consuming and a challenge But it’s creating the time to post and engage with your audience. Remember engagement is key!
